The 2024 Mind of The Engineer Survey: Express Your Opinion

If you are an engineer or in engineering management, this is your chance to make your views heard among your peers, management, partners, investors and the wider ecosystem of stakeholders. The AspenCore EE Times’ 2024 Mind of the Engineer Survey is here and is open for you to provide your inputs until the second week of September 2024, with results published around November 2024.

The Mind of the Engineer study is something that much of the EE Times ecosystem anticipates. It is an exclusive global study that aims to gather insights from engineers across various fields to better understand their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Just to give you a sense of the last report that we published in 2022, here was what we found:

  • Design engineers are satisfied with their profession, but there is a need for the next generation of electronic engineers to embrace a wider array of technology and business topics and have to discover their own methods for self-instruction.

  • However, engineers are under pressure to work harder, smarter and more economically, with Chinese design teams increasingly focused on developing new-to-the-world products, and globally many companies are choosing to outsource all or a portion of their design work to third parties, since there is a need to incorporate a wider array of new and emerging technologies such as IoT, AI/ML, and deeper connectivity.

  • The proportion of companies offering alternative work location options doubled in the wake of the Covid pandemic, but more experienced engineers are the ones who prefer to work remotely, whereas younger colleagues and hardware designers, more flexible work arrangements may simply be temporary expedients.

So, what has changed over the last two years? Here is your chance to tell the industry what has changed, what are the challenges and more.

We request your feedback for this 2024 Mind of the Engineer survey. The survey seeks to explore topics such as:

  • Emerging trends and technologies in engineering

  • The evolving role of engineers in today’s society

  • The skills and tools engineers find the most essential

  • The challenges faced by engineers

Your participation will help shape our understanding of the engineering profession and guide future initiatives within the industry. The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete. Note that all data collected is confidential and anonymous and is reported only in aggregate by an independent research firm (Beacon Technology Partners).

And as a thank you for your time, upon completion, you will be eligible to sign up to receive exclusive access to the full report, and also win one of ten (10) $100.00 Amazon.com gift cards.

Your perspective as an engineering professional is invaluable to the industry. So hopefully you will be able to find the time to complete this survey. The link is here, and you have until the Sept. 13th, 2024, to complete it before we close the survey.
